Professional Life

Six months after his college graduation, Daniel accepted a temporary position as an assistant web developer with the Terry College of Business at The University of Georgia. Thanks in large part to his boss's industry connections, Daniel gained not only valuable knowledge of web standards and best practices, but a clearer definition of his career ambitions. In March 2010 Daniel was hired full-time at Terry College as an associate web developer, where he currently works on a small team that manages Terry's network of websites, comprised of over 4,000 pages and files.

Daniel also serves on the executive committee for Terry's Young Alumni Board.

Early Life

Born on June 4, 1985 in Tifton, Georgia, Daniel's family moved to Forsyth, Georgia when he was five years old. His father Elwyn was the resident manager of Camp Kaleo, a boys' summer camp that operated under the Georgia Baptist Convention. Daniel grew up on the campgrounds with his brother Joseph and father and mother. He attended Mary Persons High School in Forsyth where he graduated in 2003 with Honors. Daniel was active in various clubs and extracurriculars in high school but most impactful to his life was his participation in the marching band. During his freshman year at Mary Persons, Daniel attended his first college football game where he saw The University of Georgia Redcoat Marching Band perform at halftime. That was the moment he decided where he would attend college.

College Life

Daniel graduated from the Terry College of Business at The University of Georgia in December 2007 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems. He also received a certificate in new media from the New Media Institute.

While attending UGA, Daniel participated in numerous student groups and activities such as the Wesley Foundation where he served on leadership for three years, Beta Upsilon Chi fraternity where he built the group's first website, and the New Media Institute where Daniel received his only formal education building websites. Most notable of his extracurriculars, Daniel played the trumpet in the Redcoat Marching Band during all four years of his undergraduate tenure at Georgia.

During his sophomore year and through his affiliation with Redcoats, Daniel received an invitation to play in the pit orchestra for a dinner theatre fundraiser at the Baptist Student Union. Little did he know that he would fall in love with musical theatre and two years later debut in his first cast role on stage, playing the heartthrob male lead character "Jimmy" in the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Real Life

Since graduating college, Daniel has vigorously pursued his passion for musical theatre, appearing in four to five community shows each year. Currently he is taking a variety of classes at a local dance studio and one day far from now he hopes to appear on Broadway. In the meantime, however, his career sights are set on the web industry. Eventually Daniel sees himself in an executive role for online marketing strategy at a major Fortune 500 company.

Daniel also attends Athens Church where he actively volunteers his time in production, running video back stage during worship services. He leads a bible study with a small group of single men, and recently assisted in updating the church website so that it adheres to modern web standards.
