Web Services: Analysis. Strategy. Optimization. Consulting.

"Current State" Consultation

I have seen a lot of bad websites built by people who claim to be professionals. The most basic service I would like to offer you is a analytical consultation on your site's current state. If you don't have a site currently, then this consultation jump starts the planning phase of building one. I will inspect your website and present a plan of action for improving your site's design, user experience, and overall presentation. You will receive a full electronic report that details recommended upgrades and enhancements to your site. At this point you can proceed in one of three ways: you can:

  1. Do nothing. Save your money and file my reports away for future reference.
  2. Hire me to finish what I started. Just pick the upgrades you'd like to implement and I will get to work.
  3. Hire another developer to work on the specifications that I recommend in my reports.

The choice is yours to make. Following our consultation, you are free to do anything you wish with the fully documented information I provide you.

Content Update

Old information looks bad and reflects poorly on your company and/or personal brand. It is very important to keep your information up-to-date so that visitors to your site feel secure in what you're presenting to them. Unfortunately for most people, updating the text on web pages is like deciphering Morse Code. It takes a little more technical knowledge than just running spell check in your word processor. To web nerds like myself, however, making changes to an existing site is often a very simple procedure. That's why I offer to perform this basic service for a very affordable price.

Optimized Scalability

My bread and butter is optimizing existing sites. As an advocate for web standards, my sites are built for longevity in an ever-changing web environment.

Get the good stuff
  • Web standards-based coding practices that extend and enhance long-term value while reducing long-term costs.
  • Separation of content and style using bleeding edge standards like HTML5 & CSS3.
  • Semantic markup that maximizes search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Cross-browser compatibility that provides a favorable experience to users on all types of devices.
  • Section 508-compliant code that meets government-mandated accessibility requirements for public institutions.
  • Well-formed, printer-ready stylesheets that are easy to read and won't waste ink.
Leave out the crap
  • Table-based layouts that are outdated and .
  • In-line styles that are tedious and expensive to change when change needs to happen.
  • Javascript or Flash-dependent content that excludes special needs users from accessing information.
  • Ugly, ordinary designs that look like a copy & paste job from Microsoft Word.
  • Bulky code that slows and degrades the user experience.

[re]Design

Not many people know what it takes to build an effective, user-friendly website. Besides making it pretty, easy to navigate, and having lots of pictures, a good website requires expert finesse on details that users never even see. Enhanced user experience is mostly a product of a site's unseen parts. Many sites are very pretty, but simply not functional. I will be the first to admit that I'm not the greatest graphic designer in the world, but what I build I build correctly, and my designs are attractive and professional. So whether you're starting from scratch or just repainting the interior, let me show you what I can do.
